Question: I have a Windows XP Pro SP2 computer that is consistenly getting about 500 Kbps download on bandwidth tests. On another computer running W2K3, I am downloading at about 2,800 Kbps. It's 3Mbps DSL, so the server seems to be getting about what it's supposed to. They are both connected to a Watchguard X5 firewall.
On the XP computer, I have tried switching to the cable that the server was using, but that didn't change anything. I have tried adding a different network card, but same result. I have restarted the computer, disabled the firewall, disabling all non-MS services, I tried disabling all startup items, and rebooted the firewall. Still same problem. There shouldn't be anything slowing it down. Both machines are running 10/100 NIC's in auto negotiation. Being that they were both plugged into the same router, I can't imagine that is the issue. What else could the problem be?
