Default Minimal Windows XP boot disk

Question: I have a hard drive whose mbr has failed and you can no longer boot from it.

the rest of the drive is OK and with the windows xp install cd in the drive the cd boots and then when you don't press a key intime then control is passed to the hard drive and windows loads fine.

Can I make a floppy disk with just the control structure that the cd uses and automatically give control to the hard drive.

I'd like not to have the xp cd out in case it gets messed up
