I'm trying to figure out the best way to track website visits on our LAN. I'm not so concerned with how long someone visited a site, but I *really* need to know WHAT site they visited and WHO made the request -- that is, which user/machine the request came from.
I should also mention that we have a mix of PC and Mac users, so I can't count on client installs to do the trick, and I don't really know what browser they'll be using. We are on a Windows 2000 Active Directory network with our own local (Windows) DNS server, if that helps.
What are my options here? A proxy-based app that collects this info? If so, what product would fit the bill? Are there any options for having our DNS server capture this info? How about having the firewall collect and report? We use a Netscreen 5GT firewall.
