Hi! This is my first question, though I've found this site helpful for years.
So -- I bought a cheap open-box Compaq Presario SR1950NX with Win Media Center Edition. I need it to run XP Pro for software/networking reasons, so I deleted the partition of the hard drive where MCE was installed and reinstalled XP Pro. Now, there's a few drivers that I'm missing and can't seem to track down.
The main problem is that the pc is not recognizing the network card, so I can't connect to my server/go online. Here are the devices that are flagged in my device manager:
Other PCI bridge device
PCI simple communications controller
SM Bus controller
Unknown device
I tried using 2 hardware information programs like Everest to get more info on these, but they didn't tell me anything new -- same info as the device manager gives.
As far as I can tell, the motherboard is an ASUSTek NAGAMI2 with an Nvidia GeForce 6150 (C51) + MCP51 chipset. I think, from what I've been able to gather from HP and other support forums, the ethernet card is integrated into this and the drivers for the motherboard would get it working. But that's where I hit the wall -- I'm not sure if that's actually the problem, and I can't find any drivers for it anyway. (Among other places, I looked at driverguide.com but didn't find anything for an ASUSTek Nagami2.)
There is a recovery partition on the hard drive from the initial install of MCE. However, I can't seem to access it, pressing F10 at startup doesn't do anything, it just goes into Windows normally. I think I could get recovery disks from HP, but I'd rather not.
