Question: After closing the lid on my wife's Dell Inspiron B130 the computer will not "wake-up" without a cold reboot by removing the battery and unplugging it. On the latest instance I closed out all of the programs I was using but I left a flash drive plugged in. The light on the flash drive went off after closing the lid, however at some point afterwards it came back on while the laptop was still closed. Upon opening the laptop the lights for the hardrive and power were on, you could hear the computer running, but the monitor did not come on. Before we ever had this problem you'd press any key and it would come back on, but now that we have this problem even pressing the power button has no effect and I have to pull the plug and battery to get the computer to reboot. When it reboots it does not give the warning that it was not shut down properly that I would expect.
(This may be a seperate issue, but recently all of the power settings had seemed to change and the screen would turn off after a minute. I chaged the default power setting from battery miser to optimum performance and that seemed to resolve the problem, but I'm not sure how the settings got changed in the first place.)
Since my laptop is in the shop my wife thinks I'm not trustworthy with computers. I could use some help here - or else I'll be sleeping in the car.
