I've followed procedures in a number of articles on "offering remote assistance" however, it fails to start. I get this message:
"There is a problem with the invitation and it cannot be opened. To use Remote Assistance, the sender of this invitation will have to send you an invitation."
Here's what I've done:
Enabled group policy "Offier Remote Assistance"
Enabled Remote desktop
Enabled "Allow remote assistance invitations to be sent from this computer"
Enabled previously disalbled accounts "Help Assistant' and "Support"
Turned on the messenger service (I wasn't sure this was necessary, but it was disabled)
Then I click on the the "offer remote assistance" link in Help and Support
I enter the IP and Connect and then click Start Remote assistance
A message box comes up that says "loading" and then another message box that says: "There is a problem with the invitation and it cannot be opened. To use Remote Assistance, the sender of this invitation will have to send you an invitation."
We are running XP SP2 with Firewall and security senter disabled on both machines.
Remote desktop works between the computers.
