It won't do any damage just installing the software and seeing it if recognises it. It just comes up and says 'no supported array controllers found'. I put a similar card in a ML310G4 the other day which wasn't supported by the ACU I had, but I think it may just have been out of date.

Software and Drivers - Smart Array Controller HP Smart Array E200/E200i, Microsoft Windows Server 2003 you'll see you can download the ACU for your card (assuming it's the E200/E200i you have) so I'd assume it's supported. Also on here
HP.com - ProLiant Storage - HP Smart Array E200 controller - Overview & Features it says your card has 'consistent software management tools' which says to me the ACU which works for most other HP controller should work for yours if it's up-to-date. In fairness to HP they're FANTASTIC for backward compatibility and compatibility between hardware, I'd be surprised if it doesn't work...
