Default Cannot connect to XP machine from Vista machine

I have just added a new Vista machine to a peer to peer network. There is one other Vista machine, the other two are XP. I can see and connect to the other Vista machine. I cannot connect or see the XP machines in the workgroup window. I can see the XP machine in the "View Full Map" in the network and Sharing Center. I can ping the XP machine from the Vista machine. When I ping the Vista machine from the XP machine I get the message "Destination Host Unreachable". I have added the netwotk IP addresses as well as the individual addresses to the Norton firewall. The windows firewall is turned off. The workgroup names match. I have netbios enabled over TCP/IP. I am not an expert computer person and I am now out of ideas. Please help. Thanks, Cathie
