Default Via chipset driver update on Vista

I've been using vista home premium OEM for a few weeks now and am reasonably happy with it. However I've just updated my Motherboards Via chipset drivers as there is a newer version listed for my chipset. I restarted the computer only to find a message saying that windows needs activating again or it will fail to operate. I have NOT changed any parts.

I can uninstall the newer driver and re-install the previous one and all is well again, but I would like the latest drivers for my motherboards chipset. Is there a way around this please???

If not I can see myself going back to XP Pro quite soon after this and other issues such as Nvidia graphics driver problems and Outlook 2002 hounding me for passwords continually.
