Default XP setup console didnt detect Hardisks (Vista installed)

i 've purchased HP dv6000 laptop core dou2 2GHz ,1024MB ram ,160 GB SATA with a preinstalled Vista

i want to get rid of vista and install XP on C: driver then install Vista on other partition as dual booting

the problem is when i want to format the C: since my hard disk is 160 GB (on partition) using bootable

XP CD >> it did not detect any Hardisk on my laptop

so how can bypass this problem and use XP Setup to format and create new partition to install XP on C:

and VISTA in New created D:
