UPDATE tblCarAuctionList
SET tblCarAuctionList.CarMaker = mstMakerModel.Maker
FROM tblCarAuctionList INNER JOIN
mstMakerModel ON tblCarAuctionList.CarName = mstMakerModel.Model

I think you can not use a table alias with update statement.
