Default Yahoo Falling From Favour?

Google own the online media planet. Almost. Former internet darling, Yahoo, seem to be slipping further behind, according to this piece:
Yahoo itself tried to buy YouTube just a few weeks ago and got as close as negotiating price and terms, according to an executive briefed on the discussions. But the talks broke down, and Google swooped in and closed the deal quickly, just as it has in several recent partnership negotiations
Missing out on YouTube? To Google? That has gotta hurt!
What do you think Yahoo should do next?
I think they should dive a lot further into social media. Own the conversation. And quickly. Perhaps they have been trying to do just that. Facebook will surely be the next to go. The only question is - to whom? And for what?
