Ok so here is a quick tut for changing the color of the warthog. I will be referring to pics in the folder that this was in, so keep that in mind. So, open the warthog original texture in photoshop. Then make a new layer. This layer will be the color that you want it to be, so select the foreground color to be what ever color you want. For this tutorial, lets do yellow. Ok, so now you have the foreground color set to the yellow of you choice. Picture 1: (IMG:http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/2698/picture12qh.png) Step 2: (picture 2) Now, the fun begins. Right below the foreground/background color selectors, there are two buttons with a circle in them. Click on the on on the right. This is quickmask. Then double click the same button, and a window will pop up. make the selection color red, its easiest to see, and then make the opacity 25% to 50%, so we can still se what we are selecting. Refer to picture 2 if you are lost. Picture 2: (IMG:http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/447/picture28xs.png) Step 3: (picture 3) Ok, now, quickmask is a handy dandy tool that lets you select anything that you draw on when you are in quickmask. To turn the brush strokes into a selection, you have to exit quickmask. To do that, simply hit the left button under the foreground/background color selectors. Now, what you have to do is (while in quickmask) color all of the warthog chassis. This will take some time, and do a good job with it, you will get great results! See picture 3 for what to color in on the warthog texture. Picture 3: (IMG:http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/8485/picture34rf.png) Step 4: (picture 4) Now, exit quickmask, and do alt-delete. Everything that was selected should now be filled in with a solid yellow color. Now go to the layers window, and on the top, you should see a pull down window with "Normal" in it already. Open that window, and select "Overlay." You may now deselect the selection, by pressing Command-D. See picture 4 if you are confused. Picture 4: (IMG:http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/7655/picture44cq.png) Step 5: (picture 5) Now, duplicate the layer with the color. Now, go back to the pull down menu, and select "Soft Light." There! You are now finished with Skinning the warthog's texture! These steps can now be applied to anything you try to skin! And of course, one last simple thing, Do command-U to bring up the hue color change, and select yellows. then slide the top slider to quickly change the color to any color you want, this was how i made all of my Race hog skins. Anything else is now up to you do decide! Enjoy! Picture 5: (IMG:http://img367.imageshack.us/img367/7581/picture53wu.png) |
