Hi there,

Just a few weeks ago everything running fine on my pc but then suddenly i was unable to log into hotmail, sainsburys online or ebay or some other sites which require you to enter a password. Wrong password entered comes up or the initial screen where you enter your password just re appears like you never entered it in the first place (some sites which require passwords work fine though).

I can get into msn messenger so know its the right password and can access the sites at work just not at home - Spooky huh!

I've tried LOADS of things:
Disable anti virus
disable firewalls
downloading latest internet version
downloading latest windows service pack
registering various dlls
deleting cookies, caches, temp internet files.

I emailed hotmail support who can back with a few things but now say they think its pc specific? PLEASE HELP MEEE

for info its a compaq laptop about 4 years old and is running XP. MCafee anti virus software in use. Any comments MUCH APPRECIATED!

I guess you are using Internet Explorer, does it happen also when using another browser (like firefox/Mozilla/Opera)

yep have tried mozilla but still the same problem, cant access hotmail, ebay etc when i try to log in... its like it just can't get past the stage where you enter your password..

At least you're not alone. I came down with the same problem last week.

Now I seem to have recitified it in that i restored ths system defaults with the original cd i had, this wiped my internet that was set up so reinstalled that, now the problem is rectified but only if i disable my Mcafee anti virus, particularly the privacy report.... I tried to get in touch with mcafee to query but low and behold their website is a minefield with no actual way of contacting them it seems...!!

I uninstalled McAfee and problem is gone.
