Google's Security – Do You Care About It?
Today, it was reported that a new vulnerability was discovered in the Google gadgets that would allow an attacker to conduct a phishing attack over an affected user. What was most important was that Google didn't seem to be too interested in fixing the flaw and sustained that it is not so important This is why we need secure solutions able to stop any malicious attempt coming from web's hackers. But if Google doesn't care about it, what can we do? Not much, but we still have the power to inform the parent company about the vulnerabilities and who knows, maybe someday, one of the employees working at the Googleplex decides to patch it. I'm just joking, I don't think the Mountain View company is ignoring all the security alerts coming into their inboxes but I'm sure that every one of them is checked. Or maybe Google tries another trick: maybe it wants to keep the consumers calm and avoid alerting them because a potential vulnerability in its products might force many of them to start looking for an alternative.
to deserve a closer look. According to the security expert who informed Google about the existence of the vulnerability, this was not the first time when the Mountain View company avoided to analyze a reported flaw. This is extremely important for both users and the search giant as the some of the users might remain vulnerable in front of the attacks.
Now, imagine that all those vulnerabilities are very dangerous especially for us, the users, because our data can be easily accessed by hackers and other malicious persons. Take for example a potential security hole in Gmail, the mail solution powered by the Mountain View company that is currently used by millions of consumers from every corner of the world. If a hacker is able to infiltrate into your account, he's also able to read all your messages, send new emails and control the inbox just like you, the owner, do.
