Google Docs Now in Mobile Flavor
Google quietly rolled out the mobile version of Google Docs & Spreadsheets today, allowing the handheld owners to access the service straight from their devices. Philipp Lenssen from Google Google Docs & Spreadsheets joins the other mobile technologies owned by the Mountain View company which seems to support the super giant to create a mobile operating system and moreover, a handheld device which would be equipped with all of them. Today, it was rumored that some gPhone are ready to be shipped out but until now, there has been no confirmation coming from the Google officials.
Blogoscoped wrote that it was first rumored one month ago but the Mountain View company didn't say a thing about the product. "What you will see is a search box as well as recent documents – word processing, spreadsheets, or presentations – below it. You can also navigate through your different folders in this stripped-down version of Docs (which might make a decent Google gadget, too)," Philipp wrote in an article published a few minutes ago.
At this time, nobody knows exactly which are the devices compatible with the mobile Docs & Spreadsheets but one thing is sure: the service allows you to access the documents saved in your account with only one exception: the presentation files which are not available at this time, Google marking them as "Not available for view".
"The HTML view of spreadsheets is a specially formatted display mode, shown above. By default it only lists a single column, but then allows you to click through to the next column or jump straight to a specific cell (if you know its coordinates). You can also list the contents of just a single row, which is then displayed vertically instead of horizontally. As is the case with the word processing docs view, actual editing of content does not seem possible," Philipp Lenssen wrote on Google Blogoscoped.
