Because of the overabundance of chipsets and motherboards that get released during the lifecycle of an operating system, care should be taken in installing motherboard drivers to maximize the performance of a computer system just like any other system component. Chipset manufacturers and links to their respective driver download pages include SIS, Nvidia, ATI, VIA, Intel and Ali. Please note that these are links to specific chipset drivers and not specific motherboard ones. Please visit the site of your motherboard manufacturer to find the latest specific drivers for your motherboard. In general, the drivers from the chipset makers are newer and updated more frequently than the ones found on the sites of manufacturers. Extra care should be taken in updating platform drivers- users that are not seeing performance/stability problems may want to avoid updating them ah hoc as a botched driver install could result in a broken O/S installation.
