Keywords in Domains

Do keywords in domains need to be separated with hyphens in order for search engines to read them?

Search engines do a decent job of parsing root words.
You will find somewhat differing results in the SERPs for singular versus plural. The domain name is 1 of many factors in ranking. I wouldn't waste too much time pondering the issue and would spend that time working on other more significant ranking or traffic issues.
