User is attempting to add a signature to her outlook 2003 e-mail that was created by another user. The signature contains a company logo along with some text and is aligned by a table that is 2 cells, 1 row. The image is a tif image but when resized and saved with word, it becomes a JPG image.

Problem: After creating a signature in Outlook using "Advanced Edit" which opens Word and saving, the signature appears to be previewed okay, but when inserted into a new e-mail, it does not display the image and displays some other box above the signature. The user inserts the image by going to tools then options then mail format and then signatures and advanced.

The user has attempted to preform the following steps to no avail:

1) Create a signature using Word 2003 "Advanced Edit" feature from Outlook and saving that file which would then appear in C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Microsoft\Signatures. The signature has been created from scratch. The file appears to be okay when previewing the signature however when inserting the signature manually to a single e-mail messsage the image is missing and there appears to be another box that appears (almost looks like a ActiveX control, or something else).

2) We have tried to copy the signature from another computer to her computer. The files/folders copied are signaturename.htm and signaturename_files directory. Outlook correctly identifies both the signature image, text and files however when inserting the signature the image is missing and there appears to be another box that appears (almost looks like a ActiveX control, or something else).

The user has already reconfigured her messages to all be written in HTML format from Rich Text Format.

Since the signature was created with Word, you need to make sure Word is set as editor. Go to Tools > Options > Mail Format, and select to make MS Word the editor.
