Edward Gardner: Built in NIC on the slim, but no place for the HDD. I think they dumped the iLink ports a while back on newer fat units. The DVD player might be marginally better. Otherwise they are the same gizmo. I have not seen a need to buy a new one yet.
The-Rack: My PS2 was getting old, so I traded that in, and a few old games, and got the slim essentially for free. Getting the network adapter for free is good things... screw the HD anyway. Note, anything that plugs into the memory card and controller port w/ a single connector on the fat PS2 will not work on the slimline... the spacing is different. They had to make a new multitap for the slim.

crazylikeafox: ...the old ps2... was very very very! picky about playing my burned movies, sometimes it would only play them if i burned it at 2.5 speed, sometimes it would only play the sound,...but now i got the new slim ps2 and it plays all my burned movies! no matter what!
