Intel splash screen (BIOS) freezes and won't load windows. I'm stuck.

I recently decided to format over my Vista RC1 beta due to compatibility issues. I was going to install XP MCE, so I loaded the XP disk and followed the instructions and proceeded to format my hd (slow format). When it was finished formatting and installing the necessary files (like a normal XP install), it rebooted and remained frozen on the Intel BIOS splash screen. I cannot do anything past this, and if I try to go to the BIOS setup it freezes when saying "entering setup". I don't understand why this occurred while trying to install XP. My motherboard is an Intel D865GLC ( Intel® Desktop Board D865GLC Overview ). So what could be causing this and how can I fix the problem? Thanks

Unplug all PCI cards, USB devices and IDE devices... i.e. leave Graphics card, RAM and CPU on the board. Boot up.

What do you get?

If it doesn't get to/past the detecting IDE devices bit, then you have a problem with either board, CPU (less likely), RAM or PSU. RAM is a high culprit - try using just 1 stick, a known good one if possible.

By the way, are you saying you have a splash screen instead of the POST screen? If so, press TAB when the machine boots, which should show the POST screen, and give you a better idea of what is going
