Default Sound Card Issues- Soundblaster Live Card

Most of the time, when I try to play music from Musicmatch Jukebox, I get this:

MMJB Soundcard Problem

I have installed a SoundBlaster Live 5.1 Sound Card in my Dell Dimension computer. It worked for a month or two, then only plays every now and then. I useually get this message when playing MusicMatch Jukebox:

Waveout format not supported

When I try to play music from Yahoo Jukebox, I get
this:

Playback engine cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may nto be functioning properly.

When I click on the volume control in the taskbar, I get this:

No active mixer devices, (etc.)

I can get sound in other ways, for instance when I empty the trash, I get the paper crumbling sound. This works all the time. Or when I make and error and a pop up box comes up, I get sound.

I downloaded the drivers from Dell's website. Could there be a driver conflict. Why is this happenning?

Default Re: Sound Card Issues- Soundblaster Live Card

I saw a sound card that's just like this, it's an old OEM SoundBlaster Live card (I think). It seems to get recognized by Windows okay, but completely useless after that. There is no mixer, there is no sound, no programs have access to it, etc etc, even though it's a recognized device.

Soltuion = install drivers. The card came with a CD for drivers which seemed to be very specific to her sound card even though it was a soundblaster card. I don't know if you have the same problem, but that fixed this one...
