We just changed our VLAN and have 2 IP Addresses for each Exchange Server.
We are getting rid of the old IP Address on the primary NIC.
The problem we face is when anyone pings the Exchange server, it resolved to the old or "Primary NIC"
This means that if I just unplug that primary NIC everybody will lose there Exchange Access until they rebooted I think.
I went ahead and un checked the "Do not register this connection in DNS" on the old primary NIC. Since the A record is already there I'm assuming this will not affect anything on DNS or the clients.
What can I do to repoint poeples computers to the new IP Address on the second NIC of that Exchange Server without Rebooting?
Does DHCP have anything to do with this? DHCP Still has the old Primary NIC DNS as a secondary DNS entry. I'm sure I can delete that now since DHCP automatically points all those manually set settings but DHCP cannot point clients to the new Exchange Server.
Know what I mean?
