Question: I have 2 small customers running SBS 2000. They both have 2 to 5 clients using Outlook 2000 and 2002 with exchange. I can's seem to find DST update information for SBS 2000. I can find every other system. It looks like I have to pay $4000 for the update??????? I am totally confused....

Well, if you leave it alone Kerberos authentication will fail locking your users out of the network.

So... probably not a good idea.

As for not wanting to buy the "old" SBS2003, that makes no sense at all. They should buy it with Software Assurance so that they get the next version at no cost... and since the life-cycle for server operating systems is every four years, when are they going to make the change anyhow??

The recently released SBS 2003 R2 is up-to-date and if deployed properly, would provide them with enough return on investment to have it pay for itself within 6 months.

If you had a phillips screwdriver that was worn down would you keep trying to jam it in tighter to remove those tight screws, possibly stripping them so you can't get them out at all? You might... but you'd kick yourself afterwards for not going to get a new screwdriver so that you could have done the job right the first time. Computers are just tools... if people are using old worn down ones, then they aren't really getting the job done.

Tell your customers to take 5% of their total annual payroll cost as a quick and easy guage to see what they are wasting by not being up to date... in most cases it's much more than that.
