Default foobar2000: Run Player from your USB Drive as a Standalone Application

foobar2000 is a great little MP3 player with a customizable interface. Instead of having to install it on your various computers (home and work), why not take it with you? You can run foobar2000 from a USB flash drive or if you want, simply run it from a different partition on your PC so that you don't have to reinstall and reconfigure it each time you reload your computer. Here's how to make foobar2000 a standalone application:

1. Download the foobar2000 installation file from foobar2000.

2. Install the application, noting the location that files will be installed. Note: it is vital that you uncheck the Enable per-user settings checkbox that shows during the installation.

3. When the installation has completed, go to the location that foobar2000 was installed to and copy the files to a new directory on your USB drive. Delete uninstall.exe from the new directory (it serves no purpose in your standalone application). To run the new standalone version of foobar2000, run foobar2000.exe from the new directory.

4. Go back to the regular installation and uninstall foobar2000.

Make your customizations to the new foobar2000 and it is ready to go.
