was told on the #debian channel at irc.freenode.org that I could do an apt-get dist-upgrade *without changing my sources.list*, which does not exactly chime well with what's said here at 5.2: http: Given that i followed the IRC advice and this is my current sources.list deb ftp: deb-src ftp: deb http: deb-src http: deb http: do you think i should apply the changes to that file after the fac Soln When doing an 'apt-get dist-upgrade' Debian will upgrade the whole distro to the latest release that you defined in apt-source.list so you will upgrade EVERY package to what is current in the stable branch of Debian. Since you are going from stable branches in your sources list, you should be ok doing a dist-upgrade. There are some people who always do an apt-get dist-upgrade all the time with little or no problems. |
