Question: I've recently upgraded my G5 (1GB Ram, Dual 2GHz Processors) to Tiger. It first seemed a bit sluggish, but generally ok. I was able to run Software Update (this included 10.4.8), and Install CS2 without an issue. Then when I really started using it, it would freeze and hang. I had to manually restart a number of times. I used Linotype Font Explorer to dump any extra fonts, I ran Disk Repair and Permissions Repair from the Tiger CD, but to no avail. In fact the everytime I restarted it just seemed to get worse. Now I can do a Safe Boot successfully, but if I try to boot normally I get the Spotlight Icon in the top right corner, a blank desktop, and nothing else. I'm out of ideas, can anyone help??

Do you have sufficient free space on your hard drive for the various hidden files (virtual memory for instance) that the OS needs to run?
