I've got a dual 2 GHz Power PC G5, it's only about 1 year old, I'm running Mac OSX 10.4.8, I have 4 GB DDR SDRAM, and my graphic card is an ATI Radeon 9600. I keep up on all of my software updates and use an external hard drive to store most of my files. This is my work computer, and I am using it every day for about 9-10 hours, I am a graphic designer, so I'm constantly creating and using large Photoshop files, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and my bosses will thank you, too! |

2. Boot from an OS X install disk by booting while holding down the c key. Instead of installing though, drag down one of the menues to "Disk Utility" and run Disk First Aid. Run the Repair Disk option. Let us know the results. 3. Download the freeware MacJanitor and use it to clean out your old log files: http://personalpages.tds.net/~brian_hill/macjanitor.html 4. If your computer has been incrementally updated to OS 4.8, it is worthwhile to download and install the OS 10.4.8 combo updater: Apple - Support - Downloads - Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update (PPC) Experience has shown that the incremental updates sometimes cause problems which can be solved by running the combo updater (which in effect updates everything from 10.4.0 to 10.4.8 without going through the intermediate steps. 5. After step 4, open Disk Utility from the utilities folder inside the Applications folder on your hard drive and run Repair Permissions. |
