Winlogon.exe encountered a problem

I recently started getting this error message whenever I boot up :-

winlogon.exe encountered a problem and needed to close

I am using Windows XP pro with SP2 and have run a full virus check and Spybot scan

Try to go on safe mode, or Command prompt mode after restart and then try to expand the file from the CD or any available source of the original winlogon file

Use the following command line.

expand C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\winlogon.ex_ c:\Windows\System32\Winlogon.exe
