Go to laptop, install office, configure outlook. File/Import/From a File/SomeName.pst. ...wait for the 1,528,678,229 Bytes of Deleted Items to import... and .... ok, we're done. Click on Contacts...yep they're all there. Click on all the email folders... yep, they're all there. Ok, User, you're all set. User opens up email. Goes to type a message. Users says "my addresses are gone." You check contacts..."no they're not, look." User says, "no, that's not what I meant. When I would start typing an address, I would get a list of email addresses to choose from." Of course, the user it talking about the autocomplete feature which builds up over time. That nice little utility that when you type "d" you get "donald@sutherland.com" and "donald@trumptowers.com" People your user emails everyday. Where did the autocomplete go? I hear this everytime I migrate email. Why can't the PST import just do what it's supposed to? How do I get the autocomplete database off the old computer? |

1. Your Contacts database should now be active as an e-mail address book. HelpDeskTips: Outlook 2003 - Contacts Not Showing in Address Book 2. The nicknames are kept in a NK2 file. With Outlook close, search for *.NK2 in the old computer or user profile. Copy the file to the new computer or new user profile. .NK2 file is located in C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook folder. It is a hidden file. Go to any folder and select Tools > Folders Options > View. Check "Show hidden files and folders". Click OK. |
