Then I installed OL2003 on the new PC and ran it the first time, so it created the default .pst. Then I renamed that default .pst (outlook.pst~) and copied the old PCs into the new Outlook folder. But when I ran OL again, it didn't see the new .pst, and I had two Personal Folders with the identical welcome message. If I try to open the old .pst, I get yet another identical Personal Folder, and I am not allowed to delete or even close any of them. So I tried importing into the new .pst from the old .pst, and that looked like it was working but afterward the messages were not in the .pst! I uninstalled OL, rebooted, and reinstalled OL. This time OL started up with the same account setup as when I first installed it -- that info must have been stored in the registry. So I tried a system restore to before the first OL install, but XP said it couldn't. I would appreciate some |

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility Account details are stored in registry. HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx-xxxx\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Outlook It is better to import the the PST file than copy over the PST file. When you could not see the emails, check if you are seeing some filtered view. Go to View > Arrange By > Current View. Make sure "Messages" is selected, and not unread only. |
