This involves editing your registry. I strongly suggest you make a restore point before editing just in case you make a mistake. That way you can always return to where it was before you did anything. Click START and then RUN. Type REGEDIT and press ENTER. Click and expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies and finally Microsoft\Windows. Right click on Windows and select New\Key with your LEFT MOUSE. Type WindowsUpdate and press ENTER. (This makes a new folder.) Now RIGHT CLICK the new folder you just made and create another new key named AU and press ENTER. (AU stands for AutoUpdate.) In the RIGHT PANE, RIGHT CLICK in the blank space and select NEW DWORD VALUE from the menu that opens. Enter the string NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers and press ENTER. Double click that entry and change the Value Data to 1 with Base Button on Hexidecimal. Click on File | Exit. The registry will be saved. Exit and reboot for the changes to take effect. Windows will now never autoreboot. Last edited by Anilrgowda; 01-Aug-2007 at 02:28 AM. |
