It is my understanding that if you are running Exchange 2000 but you are not using Outlook Web Access or any other CDO based application, you really do not "need" the patch. - We DO use OWA, but OWA is on a different (Exchange 2003) server - We DO use blackberry, however no mailboxes reside on this 2000 server, so blackberrys will not interact with this particular server -We DO use Rightfax, however rightfax has confirmed that it uses Windows OS for time on faxes, not Exchange So in a nutshell, all this box does is Right fax and is a Bridgehead server. No mailboxes on there at all. It seems to me that this one server would be OK without the DST patch, but I wanted to confirm that based on what I mentioned above. By not applying the DST patch and leaving it as a Bridgehead server, will there be any email time stamped incorrectly because of that? We are scheduled to upgrade this server to Server 2003 and Exchange 2003 this weekend so we can apply the DST patch without buying it, unless I can confirm that the above is true. We really dont want to upgrade this box, because it has an OLD 8.0 version of rightfax on it that is no longer supported (end of life), and would rather not mess with it right now.
