I have a couple of applications running from the Task Scheduler. One of these is, I believe, an app written in Java, the others are my own apps written in VB. The Java app sporadically hangs, and on digging into the event log, it appears it is popping up with "Application Error : The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application.". While that app is hanging, one of my VB apps then suffers the same problem, but only then, which suggests that the problem is causing the Task Scheduler to cease functioning properly. The Java app is being run in a user profile which is identical in all regards to my normal user profile, and I have never come across the problem happening "live", i.e. when I am logged in and call the program directly, so I guess it is a peculiarity of Task Scheduler. The VB apps run (at the moment) in my user profile but I had planned on moving them to the clone profile in due course. Has anybody come across this and know how to get around it? I could create my own bespoke task manager to run this app but frankly I'd rather avoid doing so as it is another component to have to write and manage. I have heard of other people experiencing similar problems when using task scheduler with a profile that isn't a "real" user but no solutions. |

Hmm - do you think it might be a timing issue? Is it one vb app calling another or broken down into separate forms or what? Or ServOps may be on to something there as well. Though, most of my scripts/code that I have scheduled is against 2k/2k3 servers...not xp...not usually anyway. |
