\\myAlias\someshare instead of \\myRealServerName\someshare I've tried everything possible in DNS, creating A and CNAME records but neither seem to work. When I try to access the share through windows explorer I just get errors that it can't find "myalias" or nothing shows up. I'm also familiar with this article, and it's advice didn't fix my problem. Connecting to SMB share on a Windows 2000-based computer or a Windows Server 2003-based computer may not work with an alias name Can someone help me configure this? |

Does it connect properly with \\myRealServerName\someshare If so can you connect via this: \\myalias.yourdomain.com\someshare If so, you need to configure your DNS suffix properly on the client. Also have you reboot your box since you changed the disablestricknamechecking? |
