Once these errors begin to occur the clients can no longer access the server, DNS can no longer see active directory, and the only solution is a reboot. Eventid.net and microsft KB articles are pointing to issues with 3rd party apps sucking up kernel mode memory and not giving it back. I've since pulled off Mcafee Virusscan 8.0i/Patch11, the E-policy Orchestrator Agent, and Backup Exec Remote Agent. This is just a file server, so there isn't anything else exciting running on it. Interestingly enough, this happens to the server a couple of times a day during working hours, but it will run through the night without any issues. This leads me to believe that something is going wrong when clients log in. Clients are Windows 2000 and XP with SP4 and SP2 respectively. I ran poolmon.exe from the 2003 support tools,(suggested by microsoft: KB177415), but I'm not quite sure how to read the data collected by it. I'm at a stopping point. Can anyone help me with making sense of the data generated by poolmon? Has anyone seen this particular issue? My current solution is to reboot the server twice a day, which makes my users unfriendly-like. |
