Main disk crashed. Booted up on mirror disk. In Disk Management: Redundancy Failed, so I removed the mirror. Then shut down computer and removed the bad hard drive, but I FORGOT TO EDIT BOOT.INI. Now I can't reboot. I need to edit BOOT.INI but when I go into recovery mode I get ACCESS DENIED trying to copy ANY file from a floppy to the c-drive. I can change the attributes on the boot.ini file but I can't copy it to any other location, can't rename it, can't do anything with it but look at it. Microsoft websites all read as if copying a new version from a floppy drive to the c-partition is as easy as pie. But it's not working for me. I'm at a standstill. I've got a new boot.ini file all written and ready, but I can't get it on to the c-drive |

Get the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows: UBCD for Windows Boot from that, it has an Explorer like program that should let you move, rename and copy files. You can even run Notepad. You will need an XP workstattion to create the botable CD. Follow instructions closely. Bart PE CD should also work for this purpose: Bart's Preinstalled Environment (BartPE) bootable live windows CD/DVD |
