To do this I opened the Group Policy Editor of the OU I created for this purpose, went to Administrative Templates, Desktop, Active Desktop, Active Desktop Wallpaper. I Enabled Active Desktop Wallpaper and gave it a UNC path (that I'm sure of) to the wallpaper we want to show up in on the cofrence room PC. Then, again in the Administrative Templates tree I went to Controll Panel, Dispaly and Enabled Hide Screen Saver tab, Screen Saver typed in the screen saver I want to use and Enabled and set the Screen Saver timeout. I then placed the Confrence Room PC in the "Screen Saver" OU. I then ran gpupdate and rebooted the machine, even waited for AD to replicate with no "positive" result. One further "gotcha" is that they want to use the "slide show" screen saver and I don't see a way to specify in GP what folder the slide show should be drawn from. If this is possible I would be very intrested in that answer as well. I gave this 500 pts because it's something "I" need DONE, but it's not keeping anyone from doing their job. |

So if you have a special set of users for the conference room, put them into this OU, and the policies will apply. If you're using the same accounts for the conference room and regular desktops, you'll have to use the Loopback feature. In the Conference Room OU, change the security settings for the GPO you already have, and allow only a special group (GPolConferenceRoom or whatever) to Read and Apply the GPO; make your regular users member of this group, but not the administrators. Then create a new GPO "Loopback" (do NOT use the existing GPO!), and enable the loopback policy as described below (Merge or Replace, whatever suits you better); disable the "Per User" configuration for this GPO. Reboot the machine. The loopback policy will make sure that any user policies defined in this OU will be applied to ALL users logging on to machines in the OU, no matter in which OU the accounts are; that's why you need the security group filtering described above to prevent the policies from applying to admins as well.
