CompanyWeb Sharepoint HTTP 403 error - Forbidden

Being the novice I am, my installation of SBS 2003 was not without a few hitches. I have made considerable efforts to get the Companyweb Sharepoint site working but to no avail.

SYMPTOMS
Default web page – can browse
Microsoft Sharepoint Administration – can browse
Companyweb – receive "HTTP 403 error – Forbidden"

(However I can access the site administration for companyweb ?!)

ATTEMPTED FIXES
Tried all combinations of permissions and Directory security and computers
Uninstalled Intranet, Sharepoint, ISA server & reinstalled Intranet
Tried different ports ie 81, 82 etc
Disabled the RRAS
Updating user permissions
Mashed all the keys of my keyboard in utter frustration

SUSPICIONS
I think it is IIS but I don’t want to reinstall it because of Exchange. I think so because it accepts the username & password and then displays the forbidden error.
