1. Things that have always worked like a dream under XP no longer work under Vista. 2. MS Office programs no longer "talking" to each other as well as they used to. 3. It's slower, takes more memory. 4. Any games based upon OpenGL (Quake 4, for example), just flat don't work (yeah, that was brilliant).. So, for my $160 and the expense of upgrading my memory, I basically get a slower, buggy OS that doesn't do ANYTHING as well or as fast as XP. Oh yeah, I do get some cool looking transparent borders on my windows - wowsers! So anyway, glad to have it off my computer and back with XP - everything works again! Any M$ guys out there want to explain to me exactly what took so long to create a new OS that does everything worse than the old one? I wonder if M$ will refund my money? |

MS always seems to have problems with 'backwards compatibility'. New stuff never seems to play well with the old. For what it is worth, my 'fresh' install of Vista works well with my Office 2003 - but I think 2007 is much more in synch with Vista. If you have your XP back up and running, stick with that and let the folks at MS know how you feel. Vic |
