Windows Vista x64 Update Error 80070057

Question: I have the latest production version of Windows Vista Ultimate x64. I am trying to install the update "Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB928089)", but it fails with error code 80070057. All other updates install without any problems. There is not help on Microsoft that has worked. Can someone help me?

This code usually is related to graphics or audio card. I suggest you go to manufacture to make sure you have latest driver. Do not rely on Vista to get correct drivers yet, especially x64's. Once you get driver follow manufactures suggestion. If that doesn't work go to device manager and do a manual update of driver. The 64 bit drivers are sometimes hard to find now. If you cannot find driver, try getting x32 bit and go that route for awhile. I was beta tester for 4 months and had to wait 20 days after Vista x64 to get all my drivers to work. It was worth the wait, I love the x64 platform. Finally, do a clean install of Vista might help! Good Luck
