Resume Vista from Hibernation - HDD's missing!

Hi - I'm asking this question for my cousin who is a few suburbs away:

He asked me last night if I knew why some of his HDD's weren't showing up in Vista when he resumes from hibernation. I took a few quick punts and came up with these results:

Drives show up in Device Manager
Nothing sus in BIOS
Nothin sus in Power Options
All windows updates installed (i think)

I'd have to chat with him again to get more specific info - but thought I would put this to you now - so feel free to monitor this Q or just say 'hi' in the meantime if you are unsure at the moment.

try disconnecting those drives, reboot (without them) then shutdown, connect again, reboot and test
