I am trying to transfer emails from Outlook Express on Windows 98 to emails on Windows Vista Mail and I'm having problems (having many other problems too, so was a bit stressed by making it to this stage)

In Win 98 I found the dbx files folder. I took just the inbox and the send items folder, I tried to import them in Windows mail for Vista and it just does

File -> Import -> Messages.... -> Outlook Express 6 -> "Import mail from an OE6 mail directory" then I navigate to the folder continaing the DBX file and I was unable to select the dbx file.

... Having written this, I am now realising what I may have done wrong. I was trying to select the file but instead I should have been selecting just the partent folder. I was trying to select the DBX, but I supppose a store may have more then one DBX file in it. I can't remember if I tried to press continue (or if it gave me the optoin) having just selected the folder above it because I was under the belief that I had to select it!

Anyway, I will still post this anyway as I had so many problems this day and I have to get to the bottom of each one.

Besides DBX files, each folder consists of IDX and MDX files. There are other folder files that Windows Mail may need to import the emails. So, yes, copy the entire folder over.
