I'm about to upgrade my PC and I was wondering if I should install 64-bit Vista or 32-bit. To be honest, I'm not sure what the issues are. I'm aware the 64-bit version requires 64-bit hardware (CPU), but are there any software compatibility issues that I should be aware of if I decide to install 64-bit? The configuration of the new PC will be: Motherboard: ASUS Commando (P965 chipset) CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 6600 RAM: 2G Corsair TwinX 6400 (DDR2800) HDD: 500G Seagate SATAII 16M Video: BFG 8800GTS OC 320M Audio: Old Audigy2 Value (may be an issue with drivers, but I can fall back onto MB audio which def has 64-bit vista driver). I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but some of the software I want to run is: Office 2007 (I guess this is straightforward) Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Web Developer Express 2005 iTunes Remote Administrator (just released a vista-compatible version) Games: such as Battlefield 2, LOTR battle for middle earth 2 etc. Actually, there's no point listing everything as it may not be an issue and I have a LOT of software installed. |

I soom gave up however and went back to the 32bit. The problem being lack of 64 bit driver support. I have to say that there is no obvious performance between the 32bit and 64bit versions and all of my software including Office 2007 and Visual Studio 2005 work with no issues. |
