Default Processor running at slower than rated speed

Recently ungrade to Vista (32 bit) and decided to upgrade my processor. My motherboard is a Intel 915GAG with FSB of 800mhz. My old processor was a pentium 4 2.67 Ghz. Put in a new pentium 4 3.2 Ghz but it is only running at 2.13 Ghz even though I have updated my BIOS and it is recognized as a 3.2. Any suggestions?

Default Re: Processor running at slower than rated speed

CPU speed is the Front Side Bus, FSB speed times the processor multiplier.
just fyi The listed 800 mhz is actually 4 times the fsb of 200 mhz, because it can be used 4 times for each cycle.

The FSB determines the ddr speed, and the processor speed, not the other way around,
to get the 800mhz you need 800 mhz ram, what type of ram do you have?

the processor multiplier should be 16 to get 3.2 ghz because the front side buss should be 200 mhz, 200mhz*16 = 3.2ghz

also, on any recent system, don't play with jumpers, if there are any to play with, because the settings are done in bios, not by hand.
That said, don't mess with the settings in bios either to set fsb unless you know what you are setting it to or it could fry your computer, because setting it to 800 mhz (if it can even be set that high) will damage your computer.
