Do you have Windows Vista on one PC, and want to upgrade your other PCs to Windows Vista? Microsoft has a new deal as part of its new promotional programme for Windows Vista consumer and small business users. Sadly, prices are just fractionally lower than those at large e-retailers. Microsoft unveiled the new “Windows Vista Additional License” programme to allow users to buy additional licenses at a 10 percent discount over suggested list price and upgrade as many as five more PCs.
Under the new plan, an extra license for Home Premium costs $143 (upgrade) or $215 (full versions) while an extra license for Business cost $269 (full) or $179 (upgrade) in the U.S. Other versions such as Home Basic and Ultimate are priced accordingly.
These new prices, however, are only slightly lower than those at large e-retailers such as Amazon - where Home Premium sells for $149.99 and $219.99 for upgrade and full.
Windows Vista requires one license per device. Licenses activation won’t work when attempting to activate the same licensed copy over another machine. Note that, not properly activating Windows Vista will lead to it running in reduced functionality mode, so this new program is a handy way to avoid that situation.
To qualify for an additional license for a particular edition of Windows Vista, you must already have a current, valid license for that edition (either a full edition license or an edition upgrade license). Customers can’t move up or down the Vista version scale.
Additional license orders do not necessarily include a disc. If you lost your original disc or your product came pre-installed on your computer without a Windows Vista disc, you may order a replacement or backup disc online.
Experts believed that households and small business users will lead the adoption of Microsoft newest operating system.
With the Vista license and upgrade discount programme targeting to SMBs, Microsoft can only hope the adoption of Vista to accelerate.
