I purchased and installed Norton 360 over a week ago.
I have Vista Ultimate w/ all updates applied.

Well, I started having trouble w/ Virus/Spyware scans "hanging"/stalling every time I tried it.

After 2 discussions w/ their support folks, I ended simply uninstalling the program and planned to re-install.

Well, I downloaded the Norton Removal Tool software, restarted, deleted any residual Symantec/Norton files, and went to re-download my setup file from Symantec.

The Norton/Symantec download manager kept telling me there was a connection error, so I contacted Symantec AGAIN. The new guy gave me a trial download to install, in which I would simply enter my product key.

Now, the installation hangs/stalls at the "LiveUpdate" stage.

Arghhhh!!!
I try to google ANYTHING on Norton 360, but there is simply nothing to be found!
I find a wealth of snippets of discussions on forums.norton.com, but every time I try to go to one of the links, the website seems to be down.

I'm literally ready to pull all my hair out over this one.
I purchased Norton b/c it had gotten great reviews and I was tired of waiting for ZoneAlarm/Zonelabs to come out w/ a Vista-compatible firewall solution.

Any idea as to what the heck is going on??

Wow.....how such a seemingly complex situation can be solved by one simple click is amazing...........

Turns out ALL the problems I was having (well, haven't been able to test the virus scan hanging issue yet) were rectified simply by enabling User Account Control in Vista.

For some reason, with UAC turned off (those damn prompts made my hair gray ), the program apparently does not know how to "ask" for permission.
When it gets to a point where user permission would be required or authentication was necessary, it couldn't prompt me, so it just sat there and spun its wheels.

Wow. Oh well....guess I'll have to get used to those damn prompts.

Problem SOLVED.
