Default Dual Booting XP and Vista

I have an existing installation of XP. I installed Vista on a SECOND HD.

I have the vista drive as a master on pri ide and the xp drive as a slave on sec ide.

I used VistaBootPRO3.1 to add an entry for xp in the boot manager
but when is select xp the computer reboots

my guess is that the partiion is C: for the origional xp, but when i installed vista i disconected that drive to save it from being overwritten by accident, and vista was also installed as c:

when I boot into vista the origional drive shows up as e so that is what i select for the boot manager.

Im thinking there is some conflict on who is the real c: lol

How can I resolve this without reinstalling anything?

You have inadvertently done what I recommend people do with XP/Vista installations.

You have two independent setups with their own MBR (master boot record) and unique boot loaders. That's good as it keeps Vista from messing with how XP boots.

Provided your computer allows you to select different boot drives you are all set - go into the BIOS and set the secondary device as your boot drive - XP will boot without any hint of Vista being around.

Reverse this and Vista will boot on its own.

If that's not a choice, you can still do it but it will require swapping hard drives
