Until now, I’ve not been able to install Vista in a RAID0 (stripe) array. I was getting a Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) after the first reboot, and then no further. I had a sneaking suspicion that it was a driver problem, but I didn’t find the answer until after several hours of Google hunting later.
It turns out that Gigabyte, the manufacturer of my GA-965P-DS3 (rev 2.0) motherboard, have been providing a SATA RAID driver on their website that just doesn’t work. I download the latest driver for the JMB36x RAID controller directly from
JMicron’s website. Now Vista installs perfectly! I’ve contacted Gigabyte to ask them to replace the driver listed on their website. Hopefully this helps other people too!
