Windows Build 6001 Service Pack 1, v113 (commonly called Windows Vista SP1) was spotted during Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC) in LA last week and was instantly picked up by Gizmodo.
I have no doubt Microsoft is going to release Windows Vista Service Pack 1 as earlier promised despite speculations that Microsoft is going to release update incrementally through their Windows Vista update feature.
It is not clear whether the average consumer would wait for the service pack release before buying Windows Vista; but enterprise decision makers play a vital role in migrating to the new operating system and a Windows Vista Service Pack creates a ripple of confidence in their decision making process. Minor bugs always translate to millions of dollars of losses for large enterprise and a windows service pack (Windows Service Pack 1) would up the ante in favor of Microsoft.
The Redmond Giant is known to release service packs and decision makers doesn’t care about criticism about Microsoft’s failure to launch a full-baked software product the first time around. The decision makers only care of a stable release before approving any migration efforts. Once the enterprise upgrades to Windows Vista, the employees would get used and appreciate the power of Microsoft’s latest operating system which could translate into average consumers upgrading their home PCs with Windows Vista.
